The Beginner's Guide to Local Keyword Research

A practical walkthrough for finding the exact phrases your neighbors search for when looking for your services.

Keyword research doesn't require expensive tools. Start by thinking like your customer. What would you type into Google if you needed a plumber in your town? Usually it's "plumber" + your city or neighborhood.

Use Google's autocomplete suggestions. Type your main service in the search bar and see what fills in. Also look at the "People also ask" section and related searches at the bottom of the results page. These are goldmines.

Compile a list of 10-20 phrases. Then use a free tool like Google Keyword Planner or Ubersuggest to check monthly search volume. Focus on phrases with local intent and moderate competition. Incorporate these into your website, GBP description, and blog posts.
